Delegation is key

There are so many business owners out there trying to do it all.  You know who you are.  You’re trying to do your bookkeeping, call your clients, mange your calendar, market your business, create and mail all your business correspondence and countless other tasks all by yourself.  The guiltiest parties are usually independent professionals and small business owners.  Your business is your baby, and it is hard for you to let someone else come close to your baby.  So you juggle all the tasks thinking that you’re doing what’s best for your baby business–when you’re really not.

Listen, we’ve all been guilty of it.  We’ve all, at some point, bitten off more than we can chew.  But the difference is, you’re hampering the growth of your business.  All those late nights at the office; all those days functioning on three hours of sleep because you’re trying to do it all, think about it…whom is it really benefiting.  It’s definitely not benefiting you.  You’re a functioning zombie.  You’re barely getting any sleep, your personal life is placed on hold and you don’t even have time to let yourself relax.  You’re not benefiting your business either.  Because, while you’re business is “running,” its most likely not a smooth ride.  The bottom line is your business could never grow exponentially, because you’re preventing it from expanding.  You really have high hopes and a vision of what you want things to be like.  However, you’re so inundated with work, so caught up in the demands of running your business that you’re not fully aware of what you’re doing.

The answer to your struggle is delegation.  You need to focus on doing what you do best, and outsourcing the rest.  It sounds so cliché, but it’s the truth.  If your strong points are networking and generating new clients then that is what your focus should be.  A great resource to handle those administrative tasks that you’re determined to do on your own is a virtual assistant.  A virtual assistant can efficiently and effectively handle all of your administrative tasks.  Delegate the duties that you know you should not be doing to someone that’s capable of handling them for you.  A virtual assistant will free up your time so you can devote yourself to growing and expanding your business.

Delegation is key, entrepreneurs.

Until next time,
